Media Encoder 2021 Export Stuck/Stops at 100%

Hi,

Media Encoder 2021 will just stop once it gets to 100% and need a fix for this ASAP.

I'm a youtube video editor so I use media encoder to export multiple videos at once.

No crazy settings just Match source - High Bit Rate 1080p 60 videos.

A 21 minute video takes 6 mins to get to 100% but then the bar just stays full and doesnt move?

I have adequte space on my hard drive and have tried software only and still get the same results.

This was never an issue in 2020 but really don't want to have to downgrade back to 2020 as that would be a lot of effort.

Hope someone can help

Does this still happen for your on newer versions of AME?

YES! This is still an issue with 2024! What the hell, Adobe?

I have been working with this all week with the FIRST MAJOR project I'm attempting with this software... you know, I've been editing video for YEARS as a hobby without problems, but as soon as I switch to the "indistry standard" software, because I want to up my game, this happens? Why is this software worth almost $1000.00 again?

This has obviously been an ongoing issue for YEARS. Is Adobe a scam?

Hey, so this is still happening, 4 years later.

Steps to reproduce:

Record 4 half hour long 4k30 videos in H.256 Encoding

Open a new Premiere Pro project and import the media (copy to project directory w/ md5 verification) directly from the SD card

Watch media encoder rush to 100% on the first item and sit there for anywhere from 20 minutes to forever. Literally set it to run overnight and come back to the second item on the list at 100%

It's as if they didn't actually implement md5 verification, they just send the new copy off to get watched through to make sure it didn't mess up. I know that's not what's happening but maybe it should; it would be quicker and more reliable.

Does this on both of my machines:

Dell XPS 9520 (12900HK) with 32GB ram, 4GB 3050Ti NVidia card

Mac Mini Base M4 16GB Unified

I would suggest adding proper logging to the application so you can actually see where it's hanging rather than just respond to every issue with "How do you reproduce." I know these files are larger than RAM on system and it is swapping, but that should be expected with modern video being 2GB/min in compatible formats. This is marketed and priced as professional software, I'd hate to think of the experience for someone shooting in 8k RED like MKBHD or LTT, but then again they probably use Final Cut or Resolve instead

Very sorry for your issues.
I'll try to repro based on your description. Which versions of AME and PPro did you try? Did you also try latest Beta?

I'm having the exact same issue. Encoding is fast but as soon as it's completed, it freezes at 100%. Freezes as in "beachball of death" appears. It unfreezes after a couple of minutes or hours, it depends on the will of AME, since i've not found any corelation between the files i've been exporting and freezing times.

I'm using a 2,9 GHz Intel Core i7 with 32 GB 3000 MHz DDR4 and a Radeon RX 580 8 GB.

My files and project are in an external hard drive. Preview and autosave files are in a separate hard drive.

Come on, Adobe, fix thisssss!

Hi there,

We're sorry to hear about this. We can get this checked. Could you please confirm if you are experiencing the same issue when exporting in any other format (like QuickTime > Apple ProRes)? Also, have you tried exporting the sequence directly through Premiere Pro & checked if it's doing the same thing?

Thanks,

Sumeet

Update:

Files DO finish rendering but I have to manually stop them once they get to 100%?

Surely that's not right and must be a fix so they can complete and move to the next file by themselves?

Both files have no issues and playback fine but there must be a fix for this?
