Media Encoder 2023 Crashes on Open for M1 Mac Mini

Figured it out for my needs at least. Several of my After Effects plug-ins aren't yet compatible with newer versions of After Effects. The solution to run AE is to "get info" on the application and choose "run with Rosetta". I figured I'd try the same thing for Media Encoder and I was right. I think the reason is because ME tries to load the same plug-ins that After Effects cannot. So, try running ME in Rosetta. Works for me. Good luck!

This worked for me. Video Copilot plugins in the mediacore directory were causing the crash. It's working now.

Delete any depricated plugins in this directory:

Drive//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/7.0/MediaCore

I watched the plug-ins loading and after which one it crashes. It turned out to be Mocha Pro 2019 from Boris FX, which somebody sent me to try and I never updated it. So I guess it was old and made ME crash because of incompatible coding or whatever.

2019. That seems like 10 years ago. Nobody had heard about COVID or NFT's. Good times.

Also happening on my MacOS Monterey 12.5.1 (21G83), MacBook Pro (16-inch, 2019.

Crashed when both launched individually, or summoned from AE.

Tried holding shift to clear settings, but no good.

Sorry for the crash.

Were you using any custom presets in the previous version? Do you see any error message? Try resetting the preferences of Media Encoder. Here's how.

Same on MacBook Pro Intel Core i7. Also can't use 2022 Media Encoder with 2023 Premier Pro. 

Same on Mac Studio Ultra.

Workaround for now: Reinstalled ME 2022, render Prores 422 HQ from AE, Drag and Drop into ME 2022.

Lame but gets it over the finsih line.
