Media Encoder hangs at last 2 seconds and never completes

I am rendering a GIF out of After Effects, it hangs when it gets to the very end. Weirdly it still plays the file even if I stopped it in the encoder. But I feel like this would somehow corrupt the file. (I'm not super technical I'm more of an artworker, so may be wrong).

FYI MP4 worked, it was the Animated GIF that caused an issue.

Can anyone suggest a solution please?

do you restart the program or your PC?

It's as if AME is still writing the end of the file. How long are you waiting after it "hangs?"

It was stuck for at least 15 mins each on two different attempts - I left it while I did something else and it didn't seem to be going anywhere soon! MP4 is fine so will use that for now but do you know any reason why GIF might get it stuck?

Could be many things. Have you rebooted? Tried exporting something else and get the same issue? Importing your project into a new project and see if it hangs from there as well?

Even if it hangs at the end of the export and your GIF plays back in it's entirety, then you are fine. The interface is simply not updating to show complete but it is.
