Media Encoder v23.0 doesn't work with Intel Macs running macOS 13 (Ventura)

Hello

Just updated my OS to Ventura 13.0... and what a surprise that you can't even launch Media Encoder...

I tried uninstall and re-install: same failure.

Thankfully Premiere is still working!

But still, a pretty let down! Adobe, please fix this ASAP!

These steps seem to work for now:

1. Open Application Folder

2. Right click on Adobe Media Encoder 2023 and click 'Open'.

3. Agree in security dialog.

I am sorry for your issues. Can you please leave your e-mail address and a quick description in the crash dialog so that we can find it in our crash dashboards? Please also private message me your e-mail address in this forum so that I can search for it.

This might be related to OS-related issues. Please verify in Security > Folders > Adobe Media Encoder that you have granted access to the Documents folder. Please verify the access rights to Documents/Adobe/Adobe Media Encoder. You may want to remove or rename this folder and retry. Let me know any outcomes.

Getting this error.

2023 Mac on Ventura 13.5  w/ Max 2 chip.

In Prefs->Privacy and Security->Files and Folders only "Documents Folder" is listed under Media Encoder, and it is selected.

This is how Files & Folders should look like: granting access to Desktop, Docume ts and external drives.

Do you have any antivirus or security software installed that might interfere?

That is what I was expecting, and other apps have those components.  But not ME. (See attached) I have uninstalled and reinstalled various versions but still no luck... No antivirus or other security software installed.

[Updated with additional information]

Thanks to everyone who has reported this issue. We have confirmed the problem: for some customers, version 23 of Media Encoder will not launch on Intel Macs running macOS 13 (Ventura). Obviously, this is a critical issue and one we are working hard to fix. It's proved to be very challenging as only some customers see this issue and we have not been able to reproduce it within Adobe.

If you are experiencing this problem:

1. Open the macOS Applications folder

2. Open the "Adobe Media Encoder 2023" folder

3. Right click on the Adobe Media Encoder 2023 application and click 'Open'.

3. Agree to the prompt in the security dialog box that appears.

Regards,

Fergus

Hello,

I'm having the same problem and the solution provided along does not work (the security dialog doesnt come up) and the program fails to open with the message "Adobe Media Encoder has encountered an unxpected error and cannot continue".

Very frustating, I'm on the middle of a job! it worked two days ago!

Sorry to hear. Looks like this is an Intel-only macOS 13 issue.

This is alarming. Everybody who is running into this issue, please share your configurations (MacIntel vs. MacARM, Rosetta vs. Native, GPUs etc). Thanks for your cooperation.

It did work fine on my MacBook 16 (M1 Pro) machine. We'll do more tests.

Hi there!

Sorry to hear that. Do you get any error codes or messages? Does it hang on the splash screen?

Let us know.

Thanks,

Similar Problem here. After Installing Ventura and Updating Adobe Suite, Media Encoder doesnt even start. Reinstalling with new start of the mac bevor installing does not change the situation. My mac meets the needs.

Actually version 2023 doesn't work, but previous version (22.6.1) seems to be working! Interesting...
