Hello

I just downloaded the app to my iPhone and captured a couple of samples of text. But I don't see how to use the OCR feature. The instructions just say to have it activated, which I do.

How do I convert a scanned image to text?

Thanks!

Thank you for using our Adobe Scan application.

By default, OCR or text recognition will take place automatically when you tap Save PDF unless ‘Run text recognition on saved PDF’ option under Preferences is turned off.  Once the text recognition process is complete, "Open in Acrobat" option will appear on the file card.

If you have further questions, please let us know.

Hi

Thanks for your reply. How do I see the converted text once it's done? When I open the .pdf file in the Adobe Acrobat app on my iPhone, it's just a photograph of the text.

Are you able to search or select text on the PDF file in Acrobat Reader?  If not, would you mind sharing the PDF with us, so we can investigate?

Thank you,

Hello

Thank you again for your help.

I'm attaching the file. I opened it in the Adobe Acrobat app for iOS and

and it appears like a photograph, not text. When I highlight or

strikethrough, the lines are horizontal, even though the captured text is

not. I'm attaching it so you can see it.

I am having the same problem.  I've checked the preferences and I have the correct option selected, but it still  doesn't recognized the text through OCR.  I just get pictures of the text.

I'm trying to set this up for a person with visual impairment.  She needs to scan the text, then open it in Acrobat Reader DC.  We are trying to get the  Reader to use reflow and read aloud, but neither works on the Windows machine she is  using with her large screen.  Those two items do work on a different windows machine in the room, but we can't get it  to work on the one with the large screen.

Thanks for your help.

Yes, I've got the same problem. My documents are max 25 pages. At the very beginning, the app said it's doing OCR. But it didn't work. Since then, the app is just even not trying to do OCR!

I'd like to add my voice to the thread - I'm currently evaluating Adobe Scan (with free Creative Cloud service), but I cannot get it to work - it won't OCR or upload the scanned documents to the CC. I've read other threads on these forums and verified that all the relevant options are on (text recognition, mobile data etc.) but to no avail.
