Proper way to swap XD-Library ownership without breaking links?

We got a Library and about a dozen referencing files (different page types) shared with full access rights. Now we would like to go on working on these files. We also would like to use the Share feature to provide a developer (who doesn't use XD) access.

When I try sharing individual prototype files via Share-Tab XD tells me that I can't because I'm not the owner / original creator. With prototype-files, I could resave the file and components remained intact (they were still referencing the third party created library).

What, however, if I also rename the Library of the project to gain full ownership of all project files? I expect all component and style-links to break. Is this correct? If so – could the original creator do something to withdraw his file-ownership?

I found older, similar topics but no solution. What is the recommended way to keep working on a project that someone else started, without rewiring all related files from scratch?

Hi there,

Sorry for the delay in response. As of now, we don't have this option available, having said that, let me assure you that I'll share your feedback with the Engineering and product management team and you can do that too by voting for this request to add voice to the feature https://adobexd.uservoice.com/forums/353007-adobe-xd-feature-requests/suggestions/20173018-transfer-...

Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions or feedback.

Regards

Rishabh

Thank you for your reply, Rishabh, I'm happy that you took the time. Please do not feel personally attacked by the following criticism, but the experiences we make with Adobe XD – not only in this instance – are hard to believe.

As a brand with a large percentage of business customers, Adobe simply can't leave such fundamental features away. Hired external talent and original creators may become unreachable. Maybe they're travelling the world… Sometimes things didn't work out well and the team doesn't even want to contact the former co-worker.

If ownership transfer for files which remote-control possibly dozens of other files – really has been forgotten by the makers of XD... If the XD team further doesn't have the resources to publish a solid solution to the problem, exposed in XD...  Then customer support still should help and offer manual rights transfer. Manual rewiring in our case likely took days and still was lossy.

It's unacceptable that the XD team know about this blatant omission for years and all your paying customers can do is leaving an anonymous vote in user-voice.
