[Share]-Why are the prototype links are loading too slow in XD?

Hi there, when I share my Xd project with a client, the link provided by you are too slow, At first, I thought it could be the resolution of my images, so I did resize all of them to a very basic resolution, however, the slow loading is still persists. this is very annoying for clients and also for the designer.
Can anyone give me any advice? is this happen to all of you guys?

Another workaround for that issue when you have to present the design in a browser is to go through all of the screens prior to the meeting. Then when you present the prototype runs smoothly. But this is still a big issue if you need to send the preview to a stakeholder e.g. I can't believe Adobe haven't done anything about that for more than an year.

I am also having this issue, and it's causing stakeholder frustration during design review. If the issue truly is the complexity of nested components (which I admit I have many), then Adobe really needs to better optimize performance around that feature. While wildly helpful, I've found it slows down everything while both editing and navigating the published file.

Jess, what helped me in some projects was to either:

  • delete the first slide and ctrl+v it back;
  • change the animation or animation's type (e.g from ease-in-out to just ease-in)

and the more radical one:

  • to place a blank slide colored with the next slide's background color (e.g. if the starting slide was white, then add white color) -> make it's trigger be "time" -> set "time" duration to 0.1s

I know those are just workaround, but until Adobe's team fixes this mess it's something that we can use.

It's been a year. It's beyond disappointing XD and this issue is STILL going on.

I'm unfortunately having the same issue. I have a project due today and the prototype is stuck loading at the splash screen. I've tried multiple browsers, tried updating. My pictures arent large files. Im unsure what to do at this point https://xd.adobe.com/view/b6883b57-7000-42a3-a54b-1d775b4265b9-e3db/?fullscreen

What helped me solve this issue was to duplicate the initial screen
artboard (the one that is being displayed the first, when in the link
mode), add a small "time - 0.1" to it and link it with the previous
artboard I had (the one that was being used when the presentation was
loading too slow).

Somehow this solved the problem and the presentation went well.

I have found a workaround for my case which might help some of you.

The shared link for my prototype was taking too long to load and showing frequent loading screens during interactions, even after the initial load. After trying out different approaches, I found out that nested component states were causing the issue for me. Meaning having a componen state inside another component state. When I broke down the hierarchy of components and left all those which had states unnested, the generated link got faster to load and almost never shows loading screens in between interactions.
More of a workaround than a fix, but maybe it will help someone. I hope this issue gets fixed soon.

I experience the same thing right now, with a presentation I made in XD. Yesterday, everything was loading fine, but since today the presentation cannot pass the infinite loading screen of the second slide. Total file size is under 3.5 Mb (which shouldnt be a problem, right?).

What causes these issues when sharing a presentation through the web-view link? Infinite loads & lagging defeat the whole purpose of this feature.

Could someone from the Adobe reply to me, so I could share my link privately with them? Thank you.

I have the same issue. I am suing Chrome. I loaded the prototype in Safari and Forefox to have a try, it loaded quickly. In Safari, they were some display fault. It is an annoyance as my clients ar irritated witgh the delay when loading.

Hi, I created an Adobe xd link for my website mockup but after I try opening it on the browser (Google Chrome) it keeps loading.

The pages take forever to load or sometimes it doesn't at all. Just keeps showing this:

Some help regarding this issue would be really great as I worked very hard on it and have to submit the link as part of my finals assignment for college.

Thank you.

Hi Mridu,

Sorry for the trouble you're facing with the prototype link loading in browser. Did you try to refresh the link and see if it loads up? Have you tried opening the link in any other browser and see if that works?

Please share the link with me here so that I can check at my end.

I will try my best to help.

Thanks,

Harshika

Hi,

Thank you for your quick reply, to answer your questions, yes I have
refreshed the link and I tried opening it on safari and Google Chrome but
it didn't work. I also created new links a few times and changed the view
settings but to no avail.

Here is the link for the prototype:

Thank you so much for your help.
Kind regards,

Hello,

So, this thread is locked: https://community.adobe.com/t5/adobe-xd/share-why-are-the-prototype-links-are-loading-too-slow-in-xd/m-p/10877181?page=1

However, it doesn't seem like it was ever resolved. We're having this problem with all of our designs and it's a real challenge showing prototypes to customers. I noticed that some Adobe folks chimed in and privately requested files, but nobody ever claimed the issue was fixed. Please advise. We cannot post our proprietary designs in public, but I'd be happy to share privately. Hopefully, somebody can help with this, as this a real problem.

Thank you - Matt

Hi Matt,

Thank you for reaching out and sorry to hear you are having trouble with prototype loading very slow. The thread was  locked because in past there was an outage which affected prototype not loading and instead of replying to all the posts we have merged all the outage related post to a single post. We have unlocked the thread now.

However, could you please share the prototype link with me over a private message so that I can test at our end? What is the OS and XD version of your machine?

Note: Please share the url of the post with me over a PM for reference.

We will try our best to help.

Thanks,

Harshika

I created a prototype, shared weeks ago. Since yesterday, the prototype no longer works properly, it does not load. It opens, but at the first interaction the loading stops. I tried to create a new link, same problem. Even from the XD app, projects doesn't load.

Did you try loading the prototype in different browsers? If not trying loading the prototype in some different browser.

Same problem. Especially when I view the design link on my mobile browser.

But perhaps not the same cause...

Could you please tell and preferably also show a little more of your design ?

Or even better: give the link to verify it. I don't have a crystal ball or something... 😉

Hi All,

The team has logged a bug for this issue and is working on it. You may definitely see improvements in the future releases of XD.

We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks,

Harshika

Thanks for sending the Preview link 🙂

I tested the preview on my desktop (MacBook, Catalina, Safari, everything up to date), and it took about 25 seconds to load. The first 10 seconds look promising; the spinner turns quickly, but then comes to a halt, moves again a bit after 10 more seconds, halts again for another 5 seconds, and then the first artboard (the splash screen) stumbles onto the screen.
However, all further taps in the preview respond swiftly, with no poblems.

On the mobile phone (iPhone 8, all up to date) a similar pattern occurs, but after 25 seconds of waiting, moving, waiting, moving, another 10 seconds pass, and then an error is displayed (see below).

On my tablet (an oldie, iPad Air 2, but with everything up to date), the pattern repeats but muuuuchchchh slloooowwer. After a few MINUTES (I almost gave up) the spinner disappears and I see a flash of the splash screen, which dispappears again and returns after another minute or so. The spinner in between is hardly turning. But then the splash screen returns, and becomes interactive ! The rest of the preview is quite responsive again.

So the MacBook and iPad succeeded in starting the preview after respectively a long and veeerryyy long while. The iPhone just gave up:

Hope this helps diagnosing the problem. The size of the file itself doesn't seem very large to me. Or have you been using super hi-res pictures for that fabric on the splash screen and other products ? They might take a while to load from the Adobe servers and eventually render in the browser engine, and they can even be too much for certain browser configurations...

Maybe you'll allow me a sneak peek into the original file ?

BTW, my Internet speed is constantly around 280 Mbps, so that can't be a hindrance.

Hi Peter,

Really really really appreciate for your prompt reply and analysis on this special moment and not to mention Saturday afternoon 🤗

Your guess is just like what I am speculating. I also uploaded it to Zeplin for checking the file.

The first 2 boarding pages are missing in Zeplin as well.

Here is the screenshot of the files:

I made the pattern by repeat the grid from XD in a super tiny pixel 3x3.

However, may I ask one more question, normally, the app design wouldn't support such a tiny grid pattern?

If it is the cause, I might need to adjust the design of the landing page.

Thanks Peter for your time on detecting this issue for me 🙂

Ha, I came to that same conclusion 🙂

What a whopping Repeat Grid that is !

I removed it from that splash page (and elsewhere) and your puppy is flying again...

Also try to bring down the images a notch in resolution and empty space around it.

Large files also slow down the process...
