Layer order selection no longer reflected when copying and pasting layers

In v22.2 (as in all previous versions) the order in which you select layers before copying or cutting, has a bearing on the order in which they appear when pasted i.e. 1st selected layer is at the top of the pasted stack, last selected layer is at the bottom. This provides a quick and convenient way of reversing the order of layers in the composition, or even arranging in arbitrary order, if you use non-contiguous selections.

In v22.3 build 90 this behaviour is gone (it may have gone earlier). Now, pasted layers maintain the order they were in when copied/cut, regardless of the order in which they were selected.

This is bad. Please restore the previous behaviour.

Hi @mave1969,

Thank you for reporting this issue. It sounds like a known issue we are tracking where having the new Properties panel open causes the layer order to be ignored for copy/paste and also for the Sequence Layers functionality.

Would you please try closing the Properties panel and see if the old behavior is restored? This would confirm it is the same issue our team is looking into. If not, this may be a new issue that we would like to be aware of.

Thanks again for reporting and f

Thanks for the swift response John, I just tried it with the Properties panel closed (not just minimised in the stack) and it did indeed restore the usual behaviour. This would also seem to explain the other report of the Sequence Layers command not working in v22.2 beta even though it worked in the v22.2 release, and now once again not working in the v22.3 beta, since the properties panel remained only in the beta releases throughout?

Thank you for confirming that @mave1969. Yes, the Properties panel is still only the Beta builds, which would explain the difference in behavior. The Betas are typically a version ahead of the non-Beta version, but features only move to the non-Beta when they are ready, so a given feature might remain in Beta even when new non-Beta versions are released.

Thanks again,
