Keyboard Shortcuts for animation presets

Im sure this has been asked for because this would be extremely powerfull for mograph power users and repetitive animation tasks.

Currently there is one bindable shortcut to reuse the last animation preset. If we had the ability to keybind our saved animation presets (lets say 1-20), that would open up a whole new world of functionality. Using the numpad or hardware (like Elgato Streamdeck) for presets without the need for extra plugins would speedup the workflow for some users in a very big way.

If you haven't already discovered it, the free FXConsole plugin from Video Copilot (link: https://www.videocopilot.net/blog/2018/05/fx-console-updated-to-v1-0-3/ )is essential. Once installed, any time you want to add an effect to a layer, hit Ctrl-Space: up pops up a little search box - start typing the name of an effect or a preset and as soon as it shows up you can hit Enter and it'll drop it on the current layer.

eg: with a layer selected, hit ^Space L E V [enter] and a Levels effect is added to the layer.

It doesn't yet work on the ARM / M1 version of AE, which is a nightmare - for the first time in years I'm having to go up and dig through the effects menu every single time. If you're still on Intel (Mac) or Windows, you're fine though. It's an absolute godsend.

Really, the FXConsole thing ought to be built in. Please, Adobe, can you add a keyboard shortcut to pop up a search box for adding effects/presets? Every other graphics package I can think of has something similar: Blender, Nuke, Fusion, Houdini - they all have a quick way to add a new thing — whether that's a node or an object — by searching with a few letters, and without taking your hands off the keyboard. Which means adding effects or objects can be committed to muscle memory. If I want to add Lumetri + Set Matte + Solid Composite + Deep Glow to a layer, I don't even need to think much about it; my hands rattle away for a few seconds and there are all four effects on my layer ready to tweak. I haven't needed to navigate with the mouse, nor find an effect on a menu, nor drag and drop anything.

FXConsole is free, so Mister Kramer at VC isn't going to get upset if you Sherlock it... it should be a standard feature of AE by now 🙂

When i wrote this, i had FXConsole in mind. Its essential. BUT if you want to automate and either want to bind keys or hardware buttons like on the Stream Deck to essentially apply a set of effects, effect settings and keyframes in a one-click solution.. thats very hard and sometimes impossible to do.

There is a way to do it with saved presets and the FXConsole but its not working for me for monts because somewere in the chain of events, the key combination to open fx console and paste in the name of the preset is broken and buggy. So i think maybe it would benefit power users of AE to take away aaaalll these loops they have to jump through to automate their workflow.
