Can't copy paste text from other apps into After Effects

Having a issue like this on my M1 MacBook 😞 it kills time and workflow

I'm still having this issue in AE 18.4.0 on a macbook pro 10.15.7. AE won't allow you to paste in any text from other apps only other text within AE. 

Same problem.....every time something goes broken when adobes decides to update their software REALLY ANNOYING ! guess i'll just stop the auto update functions in the creative cloud until Adobe fixes their worklflow

Have to copy paste a path from Illustrator to a solid in After Effects. Not possible at the moment. Unfortunately I need that path in order to complete my work. Ist there a different way to import a path?

how is this even an issue? between this and photoshop completely glithcing out anytime i try to use 3D, i've about had it with adobe's latest update. stopping "fixing" things that aren't broken just to break more stuff. 

The workaround works. But I really wonder how such an issue can occur from one day to the other without having done any update.

UPDATE:

The AE team has identified how this is happening and are moving quickly to fix the issue.

If you launch AE by double clicking on an AE Project, or by right clicking on the Project file and open it with AE, pasting from the clipboard will be disabled.

For now, the workaround is stimply to launch AE FIRST and then proceed to open whichever AE project you want to work with. Paste will then work correctly.

Same problem here. Updated to 18.4.0 (41), can't copy/paste from different apps. Windows 10 User.
