AFTER EFFECTS DOES NOT RELINK ALL MISSING FILES!

Community Beginner ,

PLEASE HELP!!

Usually when files have been moved, I simply cntrl+h on a file and locate it, then Ae relinks all the other missing files in the same folder or drive. Today this function stopped working and Ae only replaced a single file at a time. I don't know if this is a bug or if something changed with the latest update. This is driving me nuts!

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

UPDATE:

Just noticed it still works with image files and replaces all missing image files as usual. However, video files are still not relinked and require me to relink each file manually.

Well that sucks... Not sure if I have a solution or explanation for your situation, but there are some things that might prevent AE from relinking automatically.

Firstly AE only relinks automatically if the source name AND folder structure is the same as when it was last saved. You can point to a new location [cntrl-H], but from there it will look for files in the same folder structure. AE will not automatically relink files based on only the file name.

Secondly AE might trip over certain file paths (at least on a mac), when certain characters are used in folder or drive names AE might get confused during relinking. Check to be sure there are no special characters in the folder names.

And then I have come across some file formats that AE seems to find difficult for some reason, usually it's .mxf files that AE struggles with. Haven't seen this with .mp4 files, so I doubt this has anything to do with your situation.

Probably none of these thing apply to your situation, but it's good to check these things for good measure.
