After long & slow propagation & trying to freeze AE froze; rebooted file completely gone

Ran the Roto Brush tool on video.  Propagation completed (hours long slow processing).  Saved (auto-save on too).  Selected Freeze and hung at about 58 of XXXX.  Memory on the system was down to @ 10-12%.  Could not close AE.  Closed everything else on the computer, but AE would not respond.  UGH  Rebooted.  Returned to AE.  The file was completely empty UGH
