Cursor locked

Community Beginner ,

Hello, this is my first post after more than 10 years of using AE but now I have a problem and I don't know how to solve it. I don't even have a clue where it could be coming from. I've searched and no one seems to have this problem.

Basically, for some time now I've had a problem with my mouse cursor. When I click on a layer, or do a manipulation (like changing the scale, opacity etc.) or whatever I'm doing, in 80% of cases my cursor "stays down" for a few seconds (2 or 3 sec). As if I hadn't released the click.

It's getting very, very annoying, because it's doing it more and more. Especially on precision work. I've noticed it's starting to happen on Premiere Pro too. But only in Adobe apps. It's not a problem with my mouse because it does it with the trackpad too.

So I've tried a few things, purged the cache, reinstalled the apps, everything's up to date. Safe Mode, remove plugins too. I don't know what to do...

I've got a Macbook Pro M1 Max, 64GB if that helps.

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to reply!

Hey @blupastl2021,

Sorry to hear you're dealing with this. What exact version of AE are you running? You can find this is the After Effects > About Adobe After Effects menu.

Do you have any other versions installed that you can try? What about the Public Beta from the Creative Cloud app?

Do you have any software installed that modifies your mouse and trackpad? Something like BetterTouchTool? If so, can you try closing that temporarily to see if it makes a difference? What about other non-A

I made a screen recording with a simple test. I created 7 bins and just tried to put them in the 1 “Untitled 1”. As soon as it says "RELEASE", that's exactly when I let go of the mouse click.

You can see that it takes a few seconds to release. It's very annoying because it glitches a lot if I move the mouse, and it's impossible to work on the software.
