Error for mp4 and avi downloaded from torrent like ERAI raws

My after effects wont take an anime episode which i downloaded from torrent it says the file may be damaged or corrupted and when i tried seeing if all mp4/avi were the problem i downloaded a video from youtube through y2mate then i was able to put it in after effects what is the issue can someone tell me and how to fix it? (the file is not corrupted i can play it from windows explorer) I have tried version 2023,22,21 of after effects and even media encoder the problem still persists

Some CoDecs are just not compatible with AE, be it because they contain DRM or are funneled through DirectX/ Windows Media Foundation and its hardware acceleration or whatever other reason you can come up with. Coinvert them to something usable in an external tool liek Handbrake.
