I can't add new audio files to my project

This is a very odd problem. My project has audio that is working, but when I add a new mp3, no sound comes out. The waveform is not even present in the timeline. It's like a shell of a file. There is nothing wrong with the mp3, it plays back fine in Premiere. I tried changing it to a wav to test but it plays back in super slo-mo. I've tried restarting many times as well as updating to the most current version. I'm at loss and have a project due soon. Any help would be appreciated.

I changed the sample rate to 48k and it works now.

Thanks for the quick response. Yes, the file is 16k sample rate. Should I change it to another rate?

Is the audio at a sample rate of 16K, 64K, 88.2K or 176.4K? There is a bug in the last couple of updates to AE for those sample rates. It is fixed in the AE beta, and will be fixed when 23.4 releases.
