Script UI Panels cropped - i.e. Rift

Would be great to have a wider choice than blinding white, neutral gray or super-contrast black. Can we get some happy medium option so the contrast is not so extreme? Can we also fix it so that older Script UI Panels don't get cropped and broken like the image attached? Both cannot be used because it crops the righthand action buttons off. This happens in both the current 25 and in the beta.

Hi all,

The fix for the redraw issue that was available in Beta is now available in After Effects 25.2.

Please note that there is still a limitation: When dragging boundaries horizontally, it should redraw correctly. However, resizing the panels vertically will shift it back to clipping.

So if you need to resize the panel both horizontally and vertically, do it in that order, and it will display properly.

I made a script (with the help of chat GPT) today to replace my most used Keysmith feature.
When I want to change multiple keyframe values simultaneously.
I also added other transform values. Get it from here if you that's something you would need

Yeah, I'm stuck in 24 as well until they mitigate this and other bugs as well as their terrible implementation of UI scaling.

I'm literally not moving to ae 25 until this bug gets fixed. I have too many time saver scripts that were affected.

We have a fix for this in the beta application in early December, but it has limitations.  When dragging boundaries horizontally, it should redraw correctly. However, resizing the panels vertically will shift it back to clipping. Not ideal but hopefully helps alleviate the situation for individuals using these plugins which are not being updated.

If you get a chance to try it in the beta, we would be interested in hearing your thoughts.

Ditto what Jack said. I know we have adobe exchange but doesn't really cover the wide array of script panels that we need to work in AE on a daily basis. Would be awesome to see a built in script installer similar to how blender has a way to browse and install scripts / add-ons from the app interface. We've been making do with aescripts for decades but would be a lot simpler if it was just folded into the app.

Appreciate you making this a dedicated bug thread and likewise appreciate the workaround. Thankful its seems like a fixable bug. I did try reaching out to the original developer of Rift and Keysmith but it seems they have moved on! Would be awesome to have tools/panels like these folded into AE.

Hello @jackthegiantkiller and @Scott.C.,

I have moved this thread to a new bug thread. This will allow us to track this to our internal ticket and give updates as that moves through our stages of investigation and hopefully development. Sorry that that process broke comment reply nesting for those messages migrated.

Thanks for reporting the issue. Hopefully it is something we can resolve on our side and isn't something specific to Rift.

Why does Adobe ship these things half-cooked instead of bullet-proof?

ostensibly, becuase the subscription model only requires there to be a changing product and general support to generate income. if you want rigorously tested software with a small set of post-launch hotfixes, you need to look into software sold as-is, or by version, like back in the Creative Suite (CS - CS6) days. those kinds of software live or die by the quality and relevance of their performance, reliability, and updates.

Rift being broken is a big one. I use that one almost every project.

Yeah, and the developer has moved on and is no longer supporting either of them. AeScripts made a few suggestions, and I do use Keystone which can do much of what Rift can, but there is nothing that has the control and preset ability of Keysmith.

Hello @jackthegiantkiller

Unfortunatly, it looks like RIFT was designed with fixed widths for different elements which is now causing clipping due to the increased size of these UI elements. There isn't a good way to selectively fixup hard coded choices on our side without negatively effecting other plugins.

For the suggestions given by AeScripts, could you go into a bit more depth on the gap that is left with Rift no longer being developed and the other plugins that are availble?

As for the updated themes. Do you find that all current versions are too contrasty? Is there one whose contrast difference feels better than the others? For accessibility there are standard contrast threshold which some elements of our old UI did not meet and it is met now, but as you note, that does increase the contrast across the application. Would be interested to hear further feedback in this area and if different areas of the UI feel better or worse than others.

Thank you for taking the time to post and bring your concerns to us.
