There is an issue with Advanced Lightning

I wanted to parent the position of a PNG to the Advanced Lightning effect’s “direction” of strike. However when I try to, I get an error saying that Advanced Lightning HAS no “direction” attribute. I used the pick whip to parent, dragging the PNG’s position to the “direction” in Advanced Lightning. I don’t know if this matters, but I’m using the “two way strike” preset.

Expression error occurs when you reopen a project after acquiring lightning "advanced" direction

・Apply the Lightning (Advanced) effect
・Get the "direction" of lightning (altitude) by expression
・Reopen the project
・Expression error occurred

Hi Javeed,

Thank you for reporting this issue. We can see the same error when pick whipping to the Direction property of Advanced Lighting and will get a bug ticket filed internally.

In the meantime, there is the workaround of using the index of the property rather than the name. To do this, hold the Alt/Option modifier key while releasing the pick whip. This will create an expression link that works just like the name and avoids the bug while we investigate a solution.
