13.6.1 - After Effects error: internal verification failure, sorry! {stuff not in the right sortdir}

I've started getting this error message every time I quit After Effects (I updated to 13.6.1 today and I'm still getting it, I started getting it on the previous update). I have to dismiss several instances of the error message every time.

The projects re-open no problem and everything seems to be fine.

It just happened on a project that has a single comp consisting of a psd as a guide layer, a video layer with Keylight, levels, and hue and saturation effects applied, and a looping background later. No exotic effects or anything.

Anyone else getting this? Any idea what the cause and/or solution is?

3.5 GHz Intel Core i7

32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096 MB

Thanks

-Mike

    Same problem.

    I know my computer is not the optimal machine to work with heavy renders but this message had never appeared to me before. And I had worked with heavier projects (effects with thousands of particles, blurs and shadows and chromas... etc). Any idea to solve it?

    Have also been seeing this for a few months. Always seems to be on large projects involving psd files as some of the source material.

    Most recently, the 'stuff not in the right sortdir' has become 'stuff not in the right bag'

    Adobe - could we have a response on this please?

    Same thing here.

    This started for me about two weeks or a month ago. Hard to say with so little sleep and no logs.

    Happens intermittently on close. Not triggered consistently by any particular file or project.

    Exactly the same here!!

    Using Kelight on 1080p footage.

    Anyone found an answer to this yet??

    Well... I downloaded Keylight directly from The Foundry, deleted the plugin that comes with AE, installed the new one and it stopped.

    Hope it works for all.

    Cheers!!

    Interesting - I might try this as I do a lot if key light stuff...however I saw at least one poster saying they got this when not using keylight.

    I'm either getting the stuff not in the right sortdir or stuff not in the right bag or both.  We have 3 computers running AE here and all computers are getting this error when the program quits. After having an error restricting RAM preview.

    Anyone found the solution yet?

    Still happening to me and just updated to 13.7.2.3.   I sent a bug report in February to Adobe.  Not sure why they haven't responded yet- seems more and more of us are having this issue.

    I'm getting restricted RAM previews (or no video image at all) no matter if I have plugins in the comp or not. I ruled out my G-RAID by working on projects whose footage lives only on my main harddrive.   I've purged the 'cache',  restarted the app, restarted the Mac - nothing works.

    I'm using an Intuos Wacom tablet and I'm having issues with the pen in AE only. Not sure if it's related - is anyone else using a tablet?

    Same. Win 10, everything updated.  Once again, AE is bug riddled mess.

    That's certainly odd. I wonder what AE isn't doing that it thinks it should be...

    You should consider updating. Apple fixed some bugs in 10.10.5 that affected AE. (It's likely unrelated to this, but this should help prevent some crashes. )

    I just got a slight variation - I got this with BAG rather than sortDir and had to hit the alert modal 8 times before it finally went away.

    After Effects error: internal verification failure, sorry! {stuff not in the right bag}

    I'm actually getting both of those errors now when I quit. Is anyone doing super memory intensive tasks? I can't say for sure if this is why, but it only started after I started running keys in Primatte on 6K .R3D files.
