2023 Constant Freezes

Hi,

I'm getting freezes that last 1-5 minutes every 5 minutes. Needless to say it's incredibly frustrating

I've been using 23.6, now downgraded to 23.5. Same problem persists.
It happens not just on RAM previews. Currently it's frozen on preferences.
I've a very basic comp, EXR sequences (in DWAB compression).
I've disabled all my plugins.

I've turned off GPU Acceleration in Project Settings and Hardware Accelerate Composition in Display Prefs. And cleared my caches lots.

My machine

Windows 10 Pro

MD Ryzen Threadripper 3970X 32-Core Processor 3.69 GHz

256GB RAM

RTX 4090, driver 537.13

Any help would be appreciated because AE is pretty unusable.

Hi Simon,

Sorry to hear about the issue.

Can you try running After Effects in Safe Mode with the third-party plug-ins disabled? Does it happen in all the projects or just a particular project? Have you installed a new third-party font recently?

Hi again,

I've tried safe mode, disabled all plugins.
done all the 'disable gpu', hardware acceleration stuff. Basically all the things usually suggested.
it's on all projects. The project I'm uploading reports for here is super simple. Image sequence plus 2 adjustment layers.
seems to be all versions of AE I've tried.

Yes. I have 128gb of RAM and never had playback issues before. I cant even playback normal unaffected footage sometimes. AE Beta is working properly. Its actually affecting my work now.
