99% Opacity

More of a rant than a question.

When setting opacity I tend to click on the number and drag it up - rather than type a value.

This far to frequently results in 98 or 99% opacity rather than a 100%.

It would make sense that when quickly dragging from say 50% to 100% it 'snaps' to the 100% value as in well 99% of cases I'm guessing it's what the user wants. If 99% opacity is desired the user can either enter the value or drag holding the command key down (on a mac) to fine tune

Hopefully the dullest video I ever make. The issue is likely me being a fraction slow in releasing the mouse when I finish dragging. Either way there is just a chance I'm not the only one who experiences this.

It's so rewarding - a poorly laid out page explaining they won't bother emailing back. Thanks Adobe.

Okay so lets come at this the other way.

Can anyone see a reason against introducing a snapping (or rounding (or whatever you want to call it)) feature when dragging values with the shift key held. So for example anything starting below 60% and ending above 95% is assumed to be 100%?

Yes.   If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

It just seems like an unnecessary feature to me as I have no problems reaching min & max values.

But if it's a feature you want then submit a feature request.  I won't hold it against you.

I'm glad Adobe didn't take this approach when they started work on Photoshop version 2.

if you scrub the value right instead of up, does it make a difference?

what prevents you from scrubbing all the way? Does it snap to 99?

I prefer typically to enter the value by clicking it twice. Also with shortcut Ctrl+Shift+O.

If you feel this feature is important, you could ask for it in Adobe's wishfrom page.

Thanks - yeah you can numerically enter a value if you like.

Maybe I inadvertently drag bag a little as I release, I'm not sure.

My point is rarely when quick dragging a value from 50 or below I can't see anyone wanting it to end on 99,

it should snap to 100 when say 95 is reached.

Adobes wishfrom page leaves a lot to be desired. Last time I used it I got an auto response saying they won't reply. Thanks Adobe - glad to be a help.

rounding up parameters could be counterintuitive too and contrary to any Adobe software I know or any other. so this is a big change you are asking. But still, Adobe wishform is the only way. That or to get an Adobe programmer liquored up at one of them Adobe conferences...
