Adobe After Effects 2025 very laggy

Hi, 

I'm using after effects for the first time. I'm using the pen tool and just trying to draw some lines and it is incredibly laggy. Does anyone know why this may be? I have an HP Zbook 15v G5 laptop - intel core i7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Nvidia Quadro P600 4GB.

Hi Nishu,

I updated my video card but still having the problem. I've taken a screen recording of me using the pen tool to show the lag. I bought this laptop specifically for high demand graphical software so I'm surprised it is so slow. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

many people complain about this to adobe. BUT ADOBE NEVER CARES. EVERY MONTH ADOBE GETS BILLIONS OF DOLLARS FROM USERS BUT ADOBE NEVER CARES ABOUT WHAT USERS NEED. "VERY IRONIC"

even the longer they are getting lazier to update about "what's new" in AE is just a small update about a basic and trivial feature (which should have been there for decades before) and is rarely used by users. WHILE their competitors are running faster in software development, AE feels increasingly obsolete to use.

TODAY WHAT IS REALLY NEEDED AFTER EFFECT IS A REWRITING OF THE CODE THAT IS VERY RELIABLE, MORE ADVANCED AND SOPHISTICATED TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY.

Hi 

My Nvidia driver type is DCH and the version is 572.60. It says that this should work fine with after effects. Any other suggestions?

AE has veen getting slower for a solid 20 years now. The first 5 of those at least we got some nice tools as a consolation prize, but now half of those tools don't work any more- mocha isn't there, rotopaint is unstable, and the helpdesk just says to install studio drivers and turn on settings that are on by default, while employees and the community here will tell you to get a better computer, despite the software's minimum spec inflating from 4 gigs to 64, and somehow STILL getting slower. AE hasn't gotten a refactor since GPU's were a niche PCI slot addition for quake players, and they'll try to convince you GPU's are properly integrated.
