Yes, same here. I've recently noticed this happening as well, with not only AE, but also Premiere Pro and sometimes Photoshop. Updated to all latest OS and Adobe software. Havn't found a solution. If anyone does please update.

For me it gets past the splashscreen and to the point where you can create a comp, and after clicking beachballs and hangs at least 5mins,

MacOS Big Sur 11.5.2

iMac 27 inch 2019. 3.6 GhZ Core i9

32 GB Ram

Really sorry to hear about this crash. We are constantly working on quality improvements. One of the ways that you can help us is to submit a crash report. After you experience a crash, you should see a dialog like the one below. It's important to fill out as much information as you can--and send it. We really do read this stuff.

Once you send it to us, it will contain diagnostic information that we can use to identify the offending piece of code. Thank you and, again, sorry for the inconvenience this crash caused you.

Hey Tom!

The box did pop up. But there is not much info to provide. One fine day it starts crashing - no error messages , nothing!

It matters a lot to people like me who are small businesses / freelancing. Upset clients, and we lose business. Dont have the luxury of being an enterprise operator. Hope this issue is resolved ASAP.

thanks!

That's okay. Please do make sure that you submit the crash report, and specify your email, profile name. That will help us correlate the specific crash that you're seeing. Thanks!

Same problem here.

I had v18 installed--crashed about 30 seconds after opening.

I noticed the v18.0.1 update--did not help.

Windows 10 OS.

I rebuild my prefs.

I updated my video card driver and one third-party plugin (via CC Marketplace).

No luck.

Re-installed v17 and it works OK so far.

I too went back to v17.7.0 and all is good again. I am still using macOS Catalina 10.15.7 on a Mac Pro. Is anyone having the same problem with After Effects v18 with macOS Big Sur?

All of my other app work fine with ADOBE 2021.  All but After Effects 2021. It installs and run just fine, until I begin to create composition or switch to another composition. That's when the hang-up occurs and it never seems to get recover, and then I need to force quit. I'm on a Mac Pro, using the latest in Mojave.

I have recently reinstalled 2020 in my machine and all is well.  I think I'll wait until everything is smoothed out before work on 2021.

The March 2021 release (version 18.0.1) of After Effects offers fix to a breakout crash happening in the March 2021 release (version 18.0) of After Effects.

Yea! I'm having problems with AE 2021 (v18) as well. When I which to work on another composition or create one, it hangs (spinning beach ball). I have uninstalled 4xs already, even uninstalled Adobe CC altogether. The problem still exists. I have a project due for an employer, and I guess I'll have to install the previous version to complete. I've never had issues with AE, ever, until now. 😞 Is there a way to download a previous version?

Having same issue. It seems random, while in After Effects, I could be working fine foe 10 minutes, then;;;spinning beach ball and I have to force quit. Anyone have a solution?
