Adobe After Effects Eyedropper Tool Not Working

Anyone else having issues with After Effects eyedropper tool? When I try to use it my system slows down and I have to hit the esc key or it doesn't pick the correct color. The only workaround is to manually select them. I'm new to AE so is there a modifier key you hold down while selecting colors?

Specs for my system:

64GB Ram

Nvidia RTX 3080

AMD Ryzen 5900x

Maybe try holding down Control/Windows or Command/Mac when sampling the color. This also selects a broader range of colors.

Sorry to say so, but these are most of the time the same boring hardware acceleration issues. Annoying as it may be, you will likely only be able to overcome these problems by fiddling with your graphics driver and the relevant settings. Also check your monitor color profile if you use any. "Bad" profiles can also affect screen space color sampling massively.
