Adobe After Effects Slow Rendering

Dead Community!

I used AE several times, rendered several videos, but now I cannot render a simple 34 second video, it takes like 2-3-4 hours to render, like why? Once I did a similar edit, with many plugin, back then it took like 2 minutes to render, but now I can't render a 34 sec. long video under like 5 minutes. It takes several hours to render a short video. What's changed?

What are the complete computer specs, including hard drives (how many, what kind, what is on each, what capacity, and how full)?

Render time depends on source footage size, frame rate, comp frame size, comp frame rate, color depth, effects used, lights, shadows, and layer styles. After Effects looks at every pixel in every layer for every frame. I often create complex composites and animations that take several seconds a frame to render. When the render times increase to around a minute per frame, I always render image sequences just in case the client requests a change in just a few frames, so I only have to re-render those changed frames. When render times start approaching three or four seconds a frame, I redesign the shot or pre-render the parts of it that are causing slowdowns.

Your disk cache could be filled up. You may have updated some unrelated software that is stealing resources from After Effects. You may have increased the frame size or frame rate. Without workflow, composition settings, a list of plugins used, and system info, it is hard to say what is causing the problem.
