Adobe Updates breaking connections to other programs

New Here ,
Oct 17, 2023 Oct 17, 2023

Every time I am forced to download an update through the Adobe Cloud, After Effects breaks my connections to plugins on Maxon and even other Adobe programs like Media Encoder.

Please, either coordinate with your other programs better before releasing sweeping updates or just let me purchase a legacy version of these programs and decide for myself whether I want to update to a new version. Even if I spend 2-3 years worth of the subscription service on a program that is entirely mine to own I would much rather that than the current system which has caused no end of troubles and time loss in my professional career every time a change I do not opt into gets rolled out.

Please, if you are going to be the industry standard on so many of these systems, either give us control over our use of it or (at the least) make sure your programs work together.

When we release a major version change, such as 24.0, it does require you update AE with AME and PPro, etc. Those set of apps are set up to work with a major version. So for Media Encoder you will need to be on 24.0 for it to work with AE 24.0.

That said, if you don't want the automatic updates, there is an option in the Creative Cloud Desktop app to turn that off. You can also have both a 23.* install of AE and AE 24.* at the same time so if you still need AME 23.*, you can install 23.*.

In terms of Maxon, that's a bit more difficult. We don't receive the updates to C4D until the day they release them to all users, so AE only supports C4D 2023 at this time. We are working on the integration of C4D 2024 for a future release.
