AE 2021 Update Changes my MP4 videos to AVI and shows green screen

I have the 2020 and the newly released 2021 versions of my Adobe softwares, and when I open the new AE 2021 and import an MP4 video from a final export I did in Premiere, it shows as AVI as the file type, and the preview window shows a green screen with vertical dots throughout it. I can open the same exact project through 2020, and these issues do not happen.

What's going on here?

Correct answer Jose Panadero

Go to Edit > Preferences > Import (windows) or After Effects > Preferences > Import (macOS). Deactivate hardware acceleration decoding. Then go to Edit > Purge > All Memory and disk cache. Restart After Effects and the problem will dissapear.

I've been facing that problem for a year maybe, and just now i am fixed it in a way i would't think of at all! It appears that some old preferences in C:\Users\@YourUsername@\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\After Effects\18.2(in my case 18.2 you can have other version maybe) was a reason to that glitch. So i just deleted (do a backup) all "Prefs" .txt, and when after effects got started i choose to not migrate any settings. Maybe it's because i've chandged CPU, i don't know for a fact, but it's working as intended now, and i suppouse it can help someone!

I use the Adobe Media Encoder to transcode variable frame rate footage. It has always works, it's fast, and my favorite format is GoPro Cineform because it is more than 8-bit, will support alpha channels, and is universally usable on all systems. Here's what my standard preset looks like:

This is exactly what's happening to me. I have reinstalled K-Lite Codecs, I have clean installed my GPU Drivers, I have updated After Effects. I've interpreted the footage inside of After Effects in every way possible. Restarted computer, everything. Most MP4s I import into AE show up exactly like this. What's going on here Adobe?!
