I've been eagerly anticipating the 22.3 native Apple Silicon update for over a year now, even though in the back of my mind there lurked a secret dread that it would render all my third-party plugins useless.
After this week's release, I'm not surprised to find that ALL of my third-party plugins are not compatible in native mode. Fortunately, when AE launches it issues a clear warning listing all of the installed plugins that aren't supported and will not be available.
The workaround is to launch AE 22.3 in Rosetta mode, and everything seems to be working in that mode, including the new features like the 3D Viewport.
I did a quick test render of a bunch of solids scattered around in 3D space, some curved, with a couple of lights in the scene. Then moved a camera orbiting 180º around the scene. No plugins. The Rosetta render took 203 seconds, the native M1 render took 74, so a pretty significant improvement.
The dilemma many of us are faced with is having to sacrifice the massive speed improvements to be able to use a library of plugins built up over several years, many from smaller developers who probably have little incentive to update them.
I guess the secret blessing is that it will force me to re-evaluate which of my 29 plugins are still of value, purge the ones that never really get used, and hope the developers of the remaining plugins update their code.
No real question here, just an observation. If anyone knows of any plugins that get updated for Apple Silicon in 22.3+, maybe we could post them to this thread.

It's probably fair to say that most big vendors (Red Giant/ Trapcode, Boris/ GenArts, Stardust/ Helium) will have updates ready in a few days or weeks. I'd only be worried about "garage shop" plug-ins as some stuff you find on AEScripts.com (the recently troubled Deep Glow springs to mind), tools like Element 3D that haven't received a major update in years even before the M1 transition or indeed some more exotic "nerdy" plug-ins like Plexus. Those will likely take their sweet time or not receive updates at all.

FX Console is the one that I desperately need in my life. Everything else, I'm happy to wait for, but no keyboard shortcut to apply effects and lacking a quick way to take and distribute screen shots is a deal killer for 22.3.
