AE audio

Whenever I import a video that has audio, the playback is very distorted and slow, I have tried with multiple others and it seems becuase the audio is mono it has this problem while other audios I import that are stereo work perfectly fine, I am using after effects 2020, i used to us AE 2019 and never had this problem until now when I upgraded, can anyone pls help me.

What format are the problem files and where did they come from?

the file is in mp4 format, and im not sure where they came from since i've never had this problem before.

AE will auto-convert any mono file into stereo when you drop the audio file into a Timeline. Knowing this, you can convert the mono MP3 into a stereo WAV/AIFF in AE. So, drop the MP3 into the New Comp icon, in the Project Panel. Then render out the composition - ensure you choose WAV/AIFF (Windows/Mac) and import this file and use it instead of the mono version. HTH.
