AE Preview keeps freezing after opening layer.

I have been using after effects for a month or so but i recently have been running into an error. Every time I open a layer panel, the preview freezes and it doesnt unfreeze until i save my projects, exit AE and go back into the project. I used to use AE 2022 and this bug would still happen, so I uninstalled it and got AE 2021. The bug is still here so i figure this must be something with my computer.

My info: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor, CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5500U with Radeon Graphics. I have put a video for visual detail to explain what Is going on.

Ive tried AE 2023 and its still not working. My AE is litterally broken. I cant use trackers, or anything. Oh btw whenever the layer glitch happens and its frozen, when I restart AE, if i open the layer, it shows a black screen.

It'll turn off after 24 hours, or you can choose Help -> Enable Logging again (when it has a checkmark) to turn it off.

We'll need a log file to see if there is more here we can help you with.

Start AE

Go to Help -> Enable Logging

Restart AE

Perform the actions that cause the issue

Go to Help -> Reveal Logging File

A few folders will open up. Find the "After Effects Log.txt" file and post it back to the forums. That should have some error messages that will help us understand what is going on.

Hi lapulga,

What's the source of the media? Are they downloaded from the Internet? Try transcoding them using Media Encoder before importing into After Effects.

Let us know if that brings any change.

Thanks,

Nishu

I recommend you use version 2023 instead of 2024. I also have the same problem when using 2024.
