AE preview window teraring

Hi!

Preview window in my AE is terribly tearing. I have a Gygabite Aero 15 4K OLED RTX 3060 KD laptop, updated drivers, tried NVidia Vsync on and off, still tearing is terrible. It's so frustrationg, hard to work loking at that awful picture for a creator. And not a sign of it in any other application. Except for Adobe Premiere Pro. Same thing there. Rendered file is OK, but working with such a terrible picture on a 2 500 USD laptop is a shame. I wait for this bug to be fixed with every next update, but it's there.

Any ways to fix it? Any answer from developers?

Hey Antonych1212,

 

Sorry for the poor experience. Which version of After Effects are you currently using? Are you using the Studio Drivers or the Game Ready ones? Please make sure that you are on the latest version of Nvidia Studio Drivers. Is this issue limited to a few projects or does it affect all projects? Does it happen with any file type in particular or is it random? Go to File > Project Settings > Video Rendering and Effects and select the Mercury Software Only option from the drop-down box and see if you still see the screen tearing.

    Thanks for answer!

    - I am using the latest version of AE 22.4

    - I've tried both Studio and Game Ready drivers, latest versions, the same tearing

    - It appears in any project. I've tried different comp setting, like frame rates, preview codecs etc. No result. It is constantly there. Seems it's all about showing the video in the window, no matter what settings are, the issue of preview window module itself.

    - It happens on Software, Cuda and OpenCL preview project settings. The same.

    It a strange thing, my laptop is quite a powerful machine, positioned for "creator use", OLED screen factory colograded, RTX studio compatible. If I open generated by AE or Premiere Pro preview file from Adobe preview folder in any video player it shows no tearing. It only happens in preview window.
    I am ready to do any test, checks, research just to get rid of it. Don't have a possibility to change this machine to something else, like MacBook, it's too expensive.

    Hope you can help me some how. It's a strong issue, really annoying.

    Thank you for sharing the details. Could you right-click on Desktop > Display Settings and set the Scale and Layout to the recommended values and see if that fixes the problem?

    Also, do you experience tearing while you're on the Layer Panel? 

    If you set the Resolution/Down sample Factor to Full instead of half, do you still see the tearing?
