Really frustrated with after effects. After effects is exporting 0 size file for H264 format and creates xmp file. The problem comes only after including mp3 file and for H264 format .Following is the export setting.

Format H264

Preset Youtube 1080p FullHD

Video Encoding Level 4.2

Steps Tried

1. Restarting after effects .

2. Restarting media encoder.

3. Restarted pc.

4. Made new project.

It is so  pathetic can't even render 5 min video properly.

Try rendering using Media Encoder instead of the Render Queue in After Effects.

Good luck

I am using Media Encoder only.

If the problem only occurs when you add an mp3 to the project, try to eliminate the problem.

Convert your mp3 in an audio app to another format, like wav or aiff. Then add it to your project.

If the problem is resolved, the issue is your mp3 file.

That was my first try to convert to wav so Nope it doesn't help.

What is the resolution and frame rate of your composition?  H264 is fussy about the resolution it can encode.

In Media Encoder, try manually setting the resolution to a standard - try 1920x1080, for example.

If you try a different preset, such as Match Source - High Bitrate, does the problem remain?

This isn't a solution, just a possible work around if you are in a hurry. Can you export out from After Effects a high quality video such as a MOV file? You could then convert that to an MP4 using Media Encoder or HandBrake.

At least for the kinds of projects I regularly build I will generally export out from After Effects a high quality MOV file which I will then convert to MP4 using HandBrake. I am very happy with the results and I've found this to be a much faster method.

I appreciate that this doesn't address your main problem. Just a workflow to consider.
