After Effects 17.6 crashes when importing psd

Hi,

I am hoping someone out there can help me. My Ae was working just fine a few hours ago but now it crashes when I import any psd files in it, or when I open projects with psd files in it. It freezes my computer for a few seconds and then Ae stops responding. I've tried purging memory and cache, reinstalling it and installing past versions.

The psd file only has 3 rasterized images in it (attached).

My specs are:

Windows 10 Pro

AMD Ryzen 7

Sapphire Radeon RX 5700 XT

64g RAM

500gb (main), 1tb SSD

Thank you.

I haven't downloaded your file, but make sure it's not overly huge, not too high in resolution (72 dpi should be enough if you have a good size), and that it's in RGB color mode and not CMYK or some other mode.

Hi Byron,

The file isn't actually huge and I've also tried lowering the resolution to 72dpi and it still isn't working.

Before this problem, most of the PS files I imported to AE are 300dpi and there were no problems. I don't know why all of a sudden Ae just stops responding.

Thanks for the suggestions though. It's much appreciated.

Start by reinstalling AE and Photoshop, re-open and re-save the file. Sounds like your system libraries are botched. Also of course the usual: Flush the caches, trassh the prefs in order for the programs to rebuild them from scratch.

Thanks for responding.

I've reinstalled PS and AE and cleared everything as well and unfortunately the problem still persists.
