I'm a new user of After Effects, and my composition is based around an mp4 file. It needs to be exactly 2:08 in length, and the overall project is that length, but when I play the comp, it simply ends at just under 40 seconds. Right at the end of the green bar, even though I have content beyond that point. I don't understand why this is happening, I'm trying to finish this in time for New Years and I know y'all have other things to do this time of year but if anyone knows whats going on here I'd really appreciate any suggestions.
Hi Joshua. It just means that you don't have enough memory for AE to render it all for playback. Look at your Preview Panel (usually at the right of your screen). Try setting your Resolution to Quarter, you can also skip frames so for example it only renders every 2nd frame for playback so you could have a higher resolution but fewer frames per second. These settings don't affect your final render.

Ok, so when I export it to Encoder the resolution and FPS will be the same as the original? Not the preview?

Yes, it will render at the correct fps and resolution.

Additionally, check the length of your composition under Composition > Composition Settings
Make sure the duration is set properly. It would also help if you can attach a screeshot of the Composition Settings window.
Thanks,
Rameez
