Hello,
I'm trying to export composition to ProRes 4444 10 bit (Trillions of Colors+). But after import file back to After Effects - in Project pannel it shown as Millions of Colors+.
I tried
ProRes 4444 Trillions of Colors+ appeared as Millions of Colors+
ProRes 4444 Trillions of Colors appeared as Millions of Colors
ProRes 4444 XQ Trillions of Colors+ appeared as Millions of Colors+
ProRes 4444 XQ Trillions of Colors appeared as Millions of Colors
but
ProRes 422 Trillions of Colors appeared as Trillions of Colors
I did some research and it seems like ProRes dont have bit depth metadata at all:
the more I deal with this ProRes stuff, the more I come to the conclusion that bit depth is not stored in the bitstream and the decoder must choose the output bit depth, and the encoder decides about the bit depth of the numbers it stores in the bitstream without putting any hint in the bitstream.
Note: looks like FFmpeg has similar thoughts, as everything is decoded to 10-bit (files tagged 8, 10, or 12, same output format)
So this is a bug on export or just in displaying information about ProRes 4444 (XQ)?
