Im trying to start after effcts 2020 and it keeps crashing with this alert:

Last log message was: <4553727488> <MetalCommandQueue> <5> kMetalCountersAtDispatchBoundary untested on MacOS 10.16. Disabling Performance Capture.

What does this mean?

Running on a macbook pro:

Bumping the the thread, having the same issue with newer versions of AE on 2018 MacBook Pro with Big Sur. All previous versions gives GPU Sniffer errors

There is a video on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1c7lgcnQ0GE&feature=youtu.be

In the comment section, there is a comment by Yan le that says -

yes i have found a fix after days of trying to rearrange codes and files. Instructions Below

Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plugins/7.0/MediaCore

Inside Medicore Folder Erase everything except dummy.txt......
Once Erased Restart System and run After Effects.

If you are on a Windows computer check driver compatibility by goggling Adobe After Effects System Requirements. If drivers are not up to date install older version of AFTER EFFECTS or Visit developer.nividia. com and download video driver needed for using After Effects 17.02.

After Compatibility check is solved, Navigate to C;/Program Files/Adobe and erase Mediacore folder completely then Refresh system and run After Effects.

I am using the latest Big Sur and there was this issue. I had CinemaGrade file inside that folder other than the dummy file. I removed the CG file and it worked perfectly.

Hope that helps.

I tried that. It didnt work for me. After restarting the computer.  I can only open after effects a few times while the computer is on.  Three times to be precise. Then it begins to crash again. As of right now fotunetely the beta version is not crashing.

Hi all,

It looks like the After Effects team have received similar crash reports via the Crash Reporter and they are investigating the bug. Meanwhile, can you please downgrade to the previous DOT version of After Effects (v 17.5) and let me know if that works?

Thanks.

Unfortunetly 17.5 gives a Gpu sniffer error code and crashes as well.

Hi Morten5CEBchanelleh52547152pragyanbezbo!

Can you share the complete crash log with me? I'll have a dev look into it so that we can understand what's going on. You can upload the log(s) to Adobe Creative Cloud or Google Drive.

Thanks,

Rameez

I have this exact same issue. I am running the latest macOS 11.0.1 and I downloaded After Effects today itself using Creative Cloud app and so it must be the latest software as well.

I am getting the error message "

Last log message was: <4451139072> <MetalCommandQueue> <5> kMetalCountersAtDispatchBoundary untested on MacOS 10.16. Disabling Performance Capture

"

I'm having the same issue as well,  i'm on the latest version After effects. It just would not start unless you restart the computer. If you open after effects three times while the computer is on or if another program is running it won't start. I'm on a Mac Pro 2019 16 Core Radeon Pro Vega 2  Ram 320G. Big Sur 11.0.1 After Effects  17.5.1

Error:

<MetalCommandQueue> <5> kMetalCountersAtDispatchBoundary untested on MacOS 10.16. Disabling Performance Capture

Hi Morten5CEB,

Sorry for your issue!

Can you be more specific with the exact version of After Effects 2020? Here is how you can find that: https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects/faq-how-to-find-the-exact-version-of-after-effects-you-re-using/td-p/9972137
