Like many of you, I recently moved from AE 2022 to AE 2023. Im in the middle of a project involving many layers and blending modes working together. When I transferred over to the new software, all the layers with "screen", "overlay", 'luminescence" and others on half of my compositions are behaving improperly. The 'screen' mode is now behaving as the 'normal' mode does. Though this is only on half of my compositions.
-Each layer uses the blending mode switch in the timeline
-using the Cinema 4D rendered
-all objects are 2D
Is there something I should look at to get this fixed, or is this a known bug with AE 2023?
Sor anyone else having this problem, make sure to disable "Draft 3D" switch on your viewer
I have the same issue, and it is draft 3D disabled and in 3D class render. but some layers in screen mode in some comps still not working properly. anyone find the solution ?

The Cinema 4D renderer doesn't support blending modes, so your statement sounds fishy:

The rest are probably mundane hardware acceleration issues, so check the relevant preferences, update your graphics driver and/or turn off hardware accelerated rendering.

If all objects are in 2D then there is no reason to be in Cinema 4D. Switching to classic 3d renderer should solve your problems.

I'm having the same issue. Comps with layers using Screen Transfer Mode will not render a QT 444 +alpha. Switching from Clasic/C4D render has no effect. And the "Draft 3D" setting is gone. Running AE 23.3. Any help?

What worked for me was not toggling the Blend Mode in the effects controls. Go to the layer in Comp 1 itself (there should be a Mode option that says "Normal" for most layers and if you dont see it, go to VERY the bottom of the window and scan for a "Toggle Switches/ Mode" option, click it.) Then you will see the option to adjust the Mode individually for each layer. Click the layer mode you want to adjust and set that to screen.

Genius!! This worked for me. But just be sure to select the correct blending mode box that says "Normal". Not the one next to the shape, but the one next to the layer.
