After Effects 2025 keeps crashing with Macbook Pro

I am an avid Adobe products user. However, in the past year and a half, I have had countless problems with After Effects on my computer, and nothing seems to be working to make the program stable. 

I have spoken to at least 7 different agents about my issues, both on the phone and in the virtual chat on the official Adobe website, and nothing seems to resolve the problem I am facing. 

I am operating the software on a Macbook Pro 2019 with (updated) MacOS Sequoia 15.3.2 with 16GB RAM. I have operated After Effects 2023, After Effects 2024 and After Effects 2025, and all three of those versions on my computer continuously crash at random times. And when I try to replicate what could have caused the crash, the software crashes for a different reason. 
 
Previous agents that I have been in contact with have :
- Changed permission settings in my computer.
- Changed different permission settings, again. 
- Deleted After Effects from my computer and reinstalled it from Creative Cloud.
- Previously updated After Effects from 2023 to 2024, since I was previously working on After Effects 2023. However, the issues still persisted, even after installing the 2025 version. 
- Deleted Creative Cloud and re-installed Creative Cloud to then clean it. 
- Deleted all of the fonts that I had installed in my font book.
- Changed permission settings, again. 
- And finally, reset multiple times my preferences on After Effects itself. 
 
I had been in contact with an agent who I had sent my crash reports from my computer itself and they have stated that unfortunately the engineering team could not find any common denominator to the multiple crashes I was facing. 
 
1 year and a half later, I am still facing the same issue. 
 
I have called Apple Support a few times to see if it was a problem with my computer itself, and their engineering team could not find anything wrong with my computer. 
 
After Effects is the only program in the entire Adobe Suite that I am facing issues with, and I cannot seem to understand what could be the underlying cause of this problem.

I dont know if this solves the problem entirely, however, I believe my problem is rooted in stored cache. 

 

After Effects tends to take a lot of space in cache that not only my computer, but multiple other computers, have difficulty processing. I've noticed that if i regularly delete my cache while working on a project, After Effects doesn't seem to crash.

If the issue is related to the permission of the files and folders, you use the command of sudo. You type in something like this below.

 

sudo open /Applications/Adobe\ After\ Effects\ 2025/Adobe\ After\ Effects\ 2025.app

* password requested to run the app.

I'm sorry to hear about this. Could you share the case ID for your interactions with the support team? I can look at the case details for more information on this issue. The case IDs usually start with an "ADB" prefix. If you see the crash reporter box when After Effects crashes, please click the blue "View Report" button and share the crash file here. It would be helpful if you shared the crash file from the most recent version of After Effects.

 

Please also let me know if you also experience stability issues when After Effects is launched in Safe Mode with third-party plugins disabled.

Hello Ishan Y, 
My last case ID was the 11th of December 2023 and the number was : ADB-32263797-H7T7

I had stopped contacting Adobe Care since it was extremely time consuming and no agent could find an answer. However, the issues persisted. 

 

Unfortunately, when After Effects crashes, it crashes my entire computer, therefore the only crash report i get, is the Apple crash report. 

 

Furthermore, I have never installed a plugin on my computer and I have experienced more instability lauching After Effects in Safe Mode.

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
