Hi, I just installed AE on a brand new computer. Everytime I boot up my project, it just crashes as soon as I try to preview or render (it even crashes when I'm not doing anything for a bit).
The project isn't anything special, simple text animations, and the frames are loading perfectly by moving on the timeline manually.
I feel like I've tried anything about updating the drivers, tinkering with preview settings, reinstalling After Effects, even reinstalling Windows. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Here are the computer specs:
Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX Z790-E
CPU: 13th Gen Intel Core i9-13900K 3.00 GHz
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX
RAM: 64 Gb
Windows 11

Hi Wutsie,
Sorry to hear about the crash.
Does it happen in all the projects? Could you test on a new project? Try this, go to After Effects Preferences > Display > disable Hardware Accelerated Composition, Layer, and Footage Panels.
If it doesn't help, try the suggestions in the following article: https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects-discussions/how-to-troubleshoot-startup-issues-in-after...
Note: Moving this thread from Bugs to Discussions for troubleshooting.
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks,
Nishu

Hi Nishu, thanks for the response!
About the suggestions in your article, I did try all of these and maybe more beforehand, but no success.
I did try with other projects, it crashed too but it did seem to take a longer time before doing so, maybe it's about how complex a project is ? I'm really not sure (and I wouldn't have thought that glorified text animations would be so "intense").
Right now I found a quick workaround, I reduced the power usage of my CPU down to 85% in Windows' Power Options. And now it works fine! Even though my CPU is not at max capacity, AE crashed only once in the last 24 hours, so I'm cautiously optimistic about being to work for now.
I'd love to know if there's something else I could do though, without having to sacrifice some of my CPU's power.

Great workaround! We'd love to take a look at the crash report. Next time when After Effects crashes, click View Report in the crash reporter, save the crash report and share it with us. Also, provide your email-id to the crash reporter and submit it. Once done, DM me email-id so we can find the crash report on our end.
Looking forward to your response.
Thanks,
Nishu

Hi Wutsie,
Thanks for sharing the email id via DM. Devs were able to find a crash report and filed a bug. They are now looking for a project file that repeats the issue to replicate the issue in house. If possible, please share a link to download the project file.
Appreciate your patience.
Thanks,
Nishu

Hi there,
Devs tested your file, and it seems to be working fine here. They noticed that you're using a few third-party plug-ins. To narrow down the issue, do you mind disabling the plug-ins from the Effects Manager (go to Effect > Effects Manager) and see if that brings any change?
Looking forward to your response.
Thanks,
Nishu

Hi Nishu,
I did try to run the project without the plug-ins, the crashes still occurred (tried also in safe mode).
