After Effects Blank Compostion

I have been working on a project in After Effects the file today and the composition area is a blank grey screen, I can double click on my layers to open them up separately and they appear just fine. Anyone know a fix for this. I am on Mac OS 10.14.6 and am using After Effects 2020.

  1. What's the exact version of After Effects you're using: https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects/faq-how-to-find-the-exact-version-of-after-effects-you-re-using/td-p/9972137?page=1
  2. Is it happening to all the projects?
  3. What are your system specifications (CPU, GPU, RAM)?

Please share the above information so that we can understand the issue better.

1. I am using Version 17.1.0 (Build 72)

 

2. Yes, it is happening in all projects. And when I try to press play on the composition I get a pop-up error that says "After Effects error: Cached Preview needs 2 or more frames to playback" thought that might be of use to understanding what is going on

Thanks for sharing the details. Have you tried removing the cache (Edit > Purge > All Memory & Disk Cache)?
