After Effects CC 2021 keeps crashing and 'Unknown Exception' pop up

My After Effects keep crashing after I have a pop up with 'Unknown Exception', especially when I change my font. This is really frustrating and has only started happening. Does anyone know why and how I can resolve this?

Could you share more details on when do you get this error? Is there anything specific that triggers it? Also, do you see any crash report: https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects/faq-how-to-find-the-exact-version-of-after-effects-you-re-using/td-p/9972137

    Hi Nishu,

     

    Thanks for getting back to me. It seems to only ever be triggered when I edit text and attempt to change the font/colour/font weight. Sometimes it never happens and sometimes it happens all the time and keeps crashing, with After Effects needing to close.

    Thanks for the additional details, Sophie.

    It could be the font that you're using in the project. Could you try removing that font and see if that helps. You could also try validating fonts and removing the faulty ones. Here's how: https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/font-book/fntbk1000/mac
