Hi Adobe community and Owners!

I have a very tedious problem, i want to edit a file that is saved as an .aep proyect on after effects,

but when i try to open it, this window comes up:

As you can see, i am working on "Windows 8" and i dont know if thats the problem.

if you're reading this on a phone, you probably can not read to perfection , so this is what it says:

"After Effects error: The file you are attempting to open was created with After effects version 13.0 (Windows 64)

and cannot be opened with this version."

I have Adobe After Effects CC that is the last version it has been released, so i dont know whats the problem right

know.

Please help me i have to work on a proyect and thats a internet template i cannot modify it.

I am waiting your answers, Thanks!

I kind of doubt you're on the latest version of AE.  It sounds like you might have version 12.

Unless you updated yesterday, in which case you have version 13.5......

You have After Effects CC which is version 12. You are nowhere close to up to date.

Go to your CC software and download either After Effects CC 2014 (which is version 13) or After Effects CC 2015 (which is version 13.5).

Beware that CC 2015 has some VERY FUNDAMENTAL differences, so you'll want to make sure to keep your old version.  Read this first before downloading the new version.

Read this for how to download version 13 (it's similar enough to your version 12 that you won't be likely to have any problems, whereas the HUGE differences in version 13.5 might cause issues for you.

If you're curious about the changes in 13.5, here's the main page about it and here is a page going into specifics about the new previewing.

As Dave says, you are certainly not using the most recent version of After Effects. I can see buttons in the user interface that don't exist in the latest version.

Tell us the exact version number of After Effects that you are using.
