After Effects CC2017 Import Sequence Problem

Hello.

I am importing a sequence of 100 still jpgs from a folder.  I select the first image and click the Import Sequence box.  The "sequence" shows up in AE, but only consists of one single frame.  The icon shows that it is a sequence, but it's name doesn't show 001-100...only 001.

Any thoughts?

they must be named sequentially for them to import as a sequence successfully. depending on the naming convention of your files, Ae may not recognize that there are other images related to this sequence. . try checking "Force Alphabetical Order" when you import the sequence. if this does not help, you may need to batch rename your files to a proper sequence naming system and you can use Adobe Bridge for that by right clicking on the files and "Batch Rename".

By clicking the "Force Alphabetical" it DID work.  Even though they were already listed as sequential numbers.

    Thanks for your help everyone

I'm looking for the opposite here.. I have a still image that insists on being imported as a sequence in After Effects. I don't see why it is doing this, nothing in the picture properties would indicate this is anything other than a still image. How can I change this in After Effects to come in as a still  image, not as a sequence. Please see attached screen shot. I'll choose another photo for now just to get this project done, but please post here for future reference.

    thank you,

    Chris

I did go back and simply rename them 001.jpg, 002.jpg, etc.  Would that qualify as sequential?  I'll try the alphabetical thing too.

    thanks
