Question

After effects constantly loads, every 5 minutes

After effects has been lagging a lot lately. I have already cleaned the cache, fixed the player settings to load faster. but for some reason it still starts to lag like that every 5 seconds, especially when I apply some effects. THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE. I used to ship perfectly with excellent quality yet. The laptop is new. What is the problem?

Hi Misha32070883sxmx,

Welcome to the community.

As the expert suggested, we'd need more details to understand the issue better.

  • What are your system specifications (CPU, GPU, RAM, OS version)?
  • What's the name of the effects that cause the issue?
  • Does it happen in all the projects or a particular one?
  • Are there any third-party plug-ins installed?

Let us know, we're here to help.

Note: Moving this thread from Bugs to Discussions for troubleshooting.

Thanks,

Nishu

processor: AMD Ryzen 5 5500U with Radeon Graphics 2.10 GHz

GPU: AMD Radeon (TM) Graphics

RAM: 16GB

OS version: windows 10 (64)

the problem arises with absolutely any effects.

this happens in all projects.

yes, installed third-party editing plugins. (Boris FX Continuum, Boris FX Sapphire, Deep glow, Color suite, Trapcode suite, Twixtor)

Thanks for sharing the details. What's the make and model of the GPU? Can you try disabling the third-party plug-ins from Effects Mangar and see if it brings any change? Also, please share some details about the project you're working on. For example - names of the effects, media properties, etc.

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Nishu

Without any system info we can't tell you much beyond the standard boiler plate text such as updating your graphics driver and all that. Start by observing what actualyl happens in task manager/ resource manager to find a potential culprit.
