After Effects crashing and Media Encoder getting stuck half way through a render.

Hi all,

I'm a frequest AE user and most of my projects have gone smoothly so far with the latest update install since November. In most recent projects i keep having the same issue where the project either gets stuck inside AE or if i mnage to send it to Media Encoder it gets stuck half way through the render. I'm using a MacBook Pro 6-Core Intel Core i7.

The composition involves several pre-comps with HD footage and keyframed masks as well as basic opacity keyframes and some colour correction.

I recently worked on an intense project and rendered about 70 short clips in about 2 weeks and wondering if it has done some damage...

Any suggestions for what i could try?

Hi Veronika,

Sorry for your issue.

It could be the result of a corrupted element in the Timeline. It could be an effect, a layer but most commonly footage. Could you try removing/replacing the footage and see if that exports successfully?

Let us know.

Thanks,

Nishu

I find that ME crashes or freezes frequently if AE is open while im encoding.  Closing AE before opening ME might help.  Other thing is once you get a working version of AE...don't update it until you're forced to.

mostly you have some corrupted elements or you use some effects with wrong settings, one of the most effects can cause this issue is the Motion Tile and Saber, so double-check you effects and your footages, mainly you will not face any issue when you edit your composition if you use a resolution/down like half and quarter, so it's better to check your comp while you use full quality so in case you have some corrupted effects you will get an error immediately
