Question

After effects crashing on startup, command line error

I am having an issue opening after effects.  I have updates from multiple different versions and keep having this error. When opening, it provides the following error, and then forcefully shuts down AE.

After Effects Error: Crash in progress. Last logged measure was: <1192> <scripting> <5> Executing Startup/Shutdown script at C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects 2022\Support Files\Scripts\Startup\commandLineRenderer.jsx

All of my drivers are up to date.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi,

I tried following the steps in the other thread but they still produce that same error.  Additionally, it does not create a crash log in the logs folder, I have no idea why.

After posting this and unistalling again, I noticed the only file to stay when I uninstalled was

Adobe After Effects 2022/Support Files/Plug-ins/Format/ProImport/Supporting Files/Logs/aeImport.txt.

This file includes the following:

++ Starting AE Import 8.00.01 [Mar 18 2014]
++ AE12.0(CS7.5) [122.0]
++ Win ??  19043, QT NOT INSTALLED
++ Sun Jan 09 21:43:26 2022

   settings not avail 'C:ProgramData:Automatic Duck:Supporting Files:ADSettings.xml' aftereffectsimport

Could this possibly be part of ths issue?

Without any system info and other details like the actual system crash logs we can't really tell you much. Most likely this is simply a permissions issue on the relevant folders and files, so start by reinstalling AE with sufficient user privileges.
