After Effects doesn't Launch on MacBook Pro 2021

Adobe After Effects 2021 and 2022 won't launch on my MacBook Pro 2021 running macOS Monterey 12.3. System is a brand new M1 Max with 64 GB RAM, fresh install.

I basically get as far as the splash screen after a long time, then the program crashes to the desktop. After the crash, I receive the error message that "After Effects quit unexpectedly. Click Reopen to open the application again. Click Report to see more detailed information and send a report to Apple."

I've tried reinstalling the software, as well as allowing full disk access to After Effects. I've tried to reset the preferences but the program crashes before the prompt to delete them. I have similar problems with Adobe Bridge, and have posted to a different conversation about them. So far, the rest of the Adobe suite seems to be working.

Hi glass_pencil,

Sorry for the crash issue.

Are you using any third-party plug-ins? I've seen a couple of issues due to the plug-ins in the recent version of After Effects. You can try removing them temporarily and test After Effects.

Also, you can try using the After Effects beta version which is natively supported on M1. Here's how you can install the beta version: https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/creative-cloud-beta.html

Let us know.

Thanks,

Nishu
