HI there!

i have problem ... after update (maybe earlier - I don't know, it's been a while since I started the project)

After Effects error: The source compression type is not supported (86 :: 1),

after opening the project, an error appears that was not in the previous version of AE...

  • I updated the codecs (quick time)
  • I uninstalled the plugins
  • I restarted the computer
  • I was checking an older version of AE (2018-  it worked on this version)

HOW can i fix it ? please help, I will be grateful

Hi

I'm also facing the issue and i tried uninstall plugins, codecs, even software

finally i came to know the problem is not in the codec or plugin

one of the hidden problem is "The file location"

Yes!

Try rename the file to less characters for example

testfile-name-test2021 if its the folder name try to replace with testfile

so what after effects actually saying it cant to go throught large named directory folders

so try shortner name in folder and project name

with minimum of 10 characters only.

Thank you!!!

Thanks for your Solution, shiva, it solved the issue for me. It's incredible and disappointing how adobe and its moderators can't solve any problems related to their software and always give the same answers, making life even more difficult for users. Thank you so much for your interest in resolving this recurring error for so many users

What file formats and codecs are used in your source footage?

I'm not the OP, but I'd suspect something with an alpha not generated using CC.
I am having a similar issue here:
