Hi all
I was on AE 23.1 since its release last December. Last week, I had a project requiring some Cinema 4D work.
Workflow: Opening a project in PP, Adobe dynamic link, new AE composition. In AE, I opened a new C4D project. After having worked and regularly saved the project for a couple of hours. I tried to close all 3, starting with C4D. AE would repeatably close the project panel and than freeze. Upon closing via task manager, the dynamic link in PP was broken and could nto be fixed by any measure. Yesterday, I spent 6 h with Adobe customer support who tried to fix the issue via remote support. The only solution they could figure out was going back to PP/AE version 23, where everything works fine. The C4D versions were the ones supplied with the corresponding AE version installation.
My question is, did anybody encounter similar issues and have they been fixed by the latest AE version 23.2? I am in the middle of a project and do not want to test it myself until finished.
Thanks

Thanks for responding.
I tried that too, also with the latest 2023.1.3 version, but AE kept freezing also with this version.

Just gave it another shot with the latest AE 23.2 and PP 23.1. AE still froze upon closing and crashed the dynamic link in PP.
So: AE23.2 and Maxon 2023 (any version) lead to this problem and so does AE 23.2 and Maxon R25.
Rolling back to AE 23.0 and Maxon R25 works seems to be the only option right now.

Hey Juerg,
Sorry to hear about this. Thanks for explaining the issue in such detail. Could you try this again with Premiere Pro 23.2 and let us know if that makes any difference? Current Nvidia studio driver (528.49) release notes mention stability issues with Premiere Pro. Could you try installing an older version of Studio Driver (517.40) and check if that works? Please perform a clean installation (click on custom and check the perform clean installation checkbox on the next page). Let us know how it goes.
Thanks,
Ishan

Hi Ishan
Thanks for your help.
I updated PP and AE to 23.2 and performed a clean install of the Studio Driver 517.40 as per your instructions.
After restarting the system, the problem is still reproducable every time. AE still freezes upon closing, making it impossible to work with Cinema 4D files.
Any help welcome, this is very annoying.
Best Regards
Juerg

Hi Ishan
I just updated to the latest AE and ME Version 23.2.1. The problem still persists. Rolling back to 23.0 seems to be the only solution for the time being.
Are you working on this problem?
Thanks for an update.

Do you see this issue specifically while working in a Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Cinema 4D workflow, or do you also experience it with After Effects-Cinema 4d workflow as well? Will it be possible for you to create a screen recording of the issue so we can reproduce it on our end?

Yes, same thing happens with the After Effects - Cinema 4d effect as well.
Here is the screen recording you demanded.
You can see how AE freezes and the link is broken in PP too once the frozen AE had to be shut down by the task manager. Re-connecting the dynamic link does not work, tried multiple methods.

It has been one week since I produced and uploaded the screen recording you demanded.
Any updates on your end, Ishan?

Hey Ishan
I just tried a clean install of the latest AE 23.3 to no avail, the problem still persists.
It has been two months now since I reported the problem!
At this price point, I really expect some help in due time.

Thanks for your input and sorry for the late response, Warren.
I tried this and it did not help.
@Ishan
I tried with the latest version 23.6, still the same problem. This is so annoying.
