After Effects 2023 keeps freezing after a few minutes while working on a project. I didn't do any animation.
Freezing cases can happen at any time, for example when I make a retangle, or when I leave it for a long time then I try to play the timeline, sometimes it can freeze.
I've tried resetting preferences, but it doesn't work.
I have also tried to remove third party plug-ins.
I have tried various versions, 23.6. 23.0. 23.1.
all the results are the same, the freeze error is always there, it's just a difference in time. but the worst is in version 23.6.
what do I have to do?
I have to force my computer to shut down, if this continues, my computer will be damaged.
please provide a solution.
thx.

24.0 released today. You could upgrade and see if that helps. There isn't much in the log file that shows the hangs to know where to go next. There are some warnings about frames failing to read from footage/videos in the comp, maybe you could try reencoding those videos?

yes 24.0 just released today, I'll try it to see the difference.
On Windows, I use the same video encode, and there are no problems, so I'm surprised why it's different on Mac.

Here are a few steps to try:
Update Software: Make sure macOS and After Effects are fully updated.
Purge Cache: Go to Edit > Purge > All Memory & Disk Cache to clear any corrupted cache.
Adjust Memory Settings: Under Preferences > Memory & Performance, allocate more RAM to After Effects.
Disable Hardware Acceleration: In Preferences > Display, turn off Hardware Accelerated Composition, Layer, and Footage Panels.
Limit Background Processes: Close resource-heavy apps like Chrome that could be affecting performance.
Safe Mode Start: Launch After Effects in Safe Mode by holding Shift during startup to disable third-party plug-ins.
Reinstall: If issues persist, use the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to uninstall and reinstall After Effects.
GPU Settings: If using an external monitor, disconnect it and disable automatic graphics switching in Energy Saver settings.
