After Effects Preview And Crash Problem

Hello Adobe

I imported 6 mp4 footage in After Effects CC 2018 shoot by samsung smartphone @ different frame rates like 59.982, 59.980, 59.870 and so on. And make the composition regarding to the footage setting.

I want to edit them like cutting, splitting etc but after effect does not showing me full preview on full resolution it only preview half of the composition and get back to the beginning.

So i tried to work on quarter resolution ya it shows me full preview but i want to work on full resolution to edit details.

Second I take that composition to be rendered in media encoder and i got the clip but when i make the composition from that newly rendered clip and start working on that with keylight effect(basically i working on keying project) and put the new background below the keying clip my file crashes.

My system specification hp intel(R) Core(TM) i3-2350M CPU @ 2.30GHz  2.30GHz, 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor, 8gb RAM, 512 Hard drive.

What can i do or tell me the solution, i am stuck in this problem.

Two obvious items:

  1. Even if Adobe says it has the problem licked, it is NEVER a good idea to use straight phone video.  Why?  Phones shoot variable frame rate video.  It monumentally screws things up.  You need to invest in a phone app designed to turn a phone into a real video camera.  Theyl force phones to shoot at FIXED frame rates, which is much, much better for both you and AE.
  2. Get more memory!  Sure, you can run AE on just 8 gigs, but not very well!  You'll be a lot happier with 16 gigs RAM.

Hi eifasoftajmal,

Sorry for the issue. Ideally, playback should not get affected like that. I would recommend to clean media cache and then check the playback.

  1. Edit > Purge > All Memory & Disk Cache
  2. Preferences > Media & Disk Cache > Empty Disk Cache/Clean Database & Cache
  3. Check the box, Cache Before Playback as mentioned in this article: Preview without rendering in After Effects

Secondly, we'd like to check the crash log for After Effects before suggesting anything regarding that. You can find the crash logs by following the steps in this article: FAQ: How to find After Effects crash logs on your computer?

We're here to help.

Thanks,

Shivangi
